Many scholar argued , as some Ancient Travelers like Faxian (A Chinese traveller visited India Between 399 and 414 CE during the reign of Chandragupta-2) had not mention about Mentioned about Hinduism in there chronicles so It is not that old as it claimed.
Here, I will site some examples of historical presence of Hinduism ,that is popularly term as sanatan Dharma.
Why Historian like Faxian not mentioned about Hinduism if it was there at that time?
Very often these travelers are travel with predetermined goal for example Faxian was in India for search of Buddhism so it is very much obvious that he would had visited only places associated with Buddhism and selectively written about Buddhism and culture and geography he come across during travel. But neither he travel whole India nor he spend that much time in research, simply because he was a curious Buddhist traveler whose core interest was to know more about Buddhism. Like wise other travelers too have predetermine path and goals.
Reasoning behind my words-
Faxian was in India during the tenure of Gupta ruler Chandragupta-2 and this is time of golden age of Hindu temple building; the famous Nagara style of temples Architecture taking shape at that time. It is there yet Faxian not mentioned. Further many major Hindu Chronicles like Ramayana, Mahabharata,Vedas, Puranas, were compiled at that time. How can critic can be oblivion about this.
We have Archeological evidence of rock painting in bhimbetkaa cave that is 10000 thousand years old...
Then we have Indus valley site ( The Indus Valley Civilisation existed through its early years of 3300-1300 BCE, and its mature period of 2600-1900 BCE.) where many symbols associated with Hinduism found like Swastik, 'Pashupati Seal' has been excavated and it shows an image of a three-eyed figure (Proto Shiva), animal sacrifice, terracotta figurines depicting goddess images.
Then we have Sunga dynasty founded in 185 B.C.E. By a Brahman Pushyamitra Shunga.
In Central India: Most modern scholars believe that the Satavahana rule began in the late second century BCE and lasted until the early third century CE.The Satavahanas belonged to the Hindu religion and the Brahmanical caste.
Then Varah images are recently traced from Mathura (land of lord Krishna) that is about 400 years before faxian came in India...
To put it in reference I would like to put light on sultanate time ...it was popular belief that Muslim came in India from north west but Malik kafur(Malik Kafur (died 1316), also known as Taj al-Din Izz al-Dawla, was a prominent slave-general of the Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khalji.) surprised when he saw Muslim were already there in ma-bar region of Tamilnadu but all the chronicles written before this date are mentioning sultanate time as pioneer of Muslim habitation in India; that is obviously misleading information.
We have ample of evidence in Sangam literature like two Tamil epics Silappadikaram and Manimekhalai both are written between three Sangam Age is the period from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD in south India. Even recent excavation of archeological survey of India in Keeladi ( about 600 BCE) in Tamil Nadu show that there were use of Tamil Brahmi script, a language used in sangam literatures.
There are many more evidences that can be sited to show the historic presence of The Sanatan Dharma aka Hinduism. I am exciting to read some of them from you readers please share that with us to strengthen my argument.
